I approve of this. Texas' election won't have straight-ticket voting. A Democrat appointed judge tried to circumvent the law, but a three panel district court ruled differently. The appeals court saw it differently. The 5th Circuit judges wrote that it was Marmolejo — not the Legislature — who upended “the status quo” by ordering one-punch voting reinstated.
So there will be no what they call one punch ballot. So if you mark Joe Biden, the rest of the Democrats on the ballot get a vote also. In many states this is happening. Laws written years ago and never challenged. “Plaintiffs had plenty of time over the past three years to challenge [the law],” the appellate judges wrote.“Plaintiffs had plenty of time over the past three years to challenge [the law],” the appellate judges wrote.
While most states do not have straight-ticket voting, the option to vote for every candidate from one political party accounted for close to 64% of total votes cast in Texas' 10 largest counties in the 2016 general election.
What say you?
